The two-year pilot program placed cameras in eight areas of London. Local governments were allowed to reinvest money collected from speeding fines to increase the number of cameras in operation.
According to the report, the number of vehicles speeding in areas monitored by the cameras dropped 67 percent. Because of its successes, the program has been extended across the country.
