It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Bradley Schroeder, our friend and colleague and former ITDP staffer. He was fearless, friendly, and fun. He was a generous and big-hearted entrepreneur. Bradley helped develop one of the most innovative programs at ITDP, the California Bike program, which focused on bringing new good quality bikes to countries in Africa and bridging the gaps between local and international businesses. Through his work, Bradley helped deliver ten of thousands of bikes to the continent.
Since that program, he continued to work on non-motorized transport, often looking to link the best of the private sector with the best of the public. He helped to promote cycle sharing in multiple places, including China, India, and Africa. More recently, he contributed to an integrated sustainable mobility strategy for Vientiane and bicycle sharing plans for three cities in Egypt. We all had a great time working with him.
He was an innovator and an adventurer, who was also a good person who looked out for and took care of others. He will be deeply missed. Our condolences to his friends and family, near and far.
